What The FACT? BY JOSE BAKING
FAME IN CANADA
If Jian Ghomeshi wasn’t fired and everything blew up in the news media, we would never have heard of him, his radio show and everything else. This is how fame works in Canada. Unless you are fired, or let go as they say, we would never know you are - or were - famous.
THIS IS A SHOW HAPPENING AT THE SAME TIME AS THE ZOOMERS SHOW FOR SENIORS AT THE SAME LOCATION - Facebook posting of Evelyn Pagkalinawan
Hmmm...this is a dilemma. Let me think. If somebody see me go to the sex show, should I use the excuse that I was actually going to the Zoomer show but just got lost? And vice versa. The choice is whether to admit you are old or horny. Or go to both and admit you are old and horny.
Apple CEO Tim Cook says he’s gay
That’s nice. But being the CEO of Apple, I believe people do not care whether you are transgender, Catholic, Christian, Muslim, black, white, conservative, liberal, left-handed or whatever. What people are interested in in is the next WOW product from Apple the way the iphone wowed in 2007. But the way things are going, I have the feeling the Apples’s next idea of a WOW product will be Iphone 7 plus, a 6” iphone. That’s it. And after that, Iphone 7 plus, a 6.5” iphone. Ironically, they will still sell.
Totally engrossed reading the cover story, “Organized Living” article in Chatelaine magazine.
Gotham is familiar
Does anybody watch Gotham? I know it’s how Batman started. However, with the setting, the city, the political and social conditions, the characters like the policemen, doesn’t it remind
you of a certain city or even representative of a country?
Nobody has to come in
Somebody came to my house to check on the rental water heater to make sure that it is ok. They came from some Ontario company whatever. She said something to the effect that they have to check it if you are using a rental water heater. I’ve been here for 17 years. I guess they check it every 17 years. I did not let her in. Besides, even police need a court order to come in your house.

The Pope Might Get Worried
I forgot my cellphone the second time. This time, it’s the Pope who is scheduled to call me to ask for my spiritual advice. Thank God he was able to wait wait until I got home and returned his call. Who knows what advice those cardinals might have given him. Ehe, susmaryospe, ano ba itong nasabi ko?

Remember
Besides the so-called bold and sexy films that pervaded
the movie industry in the 70s and early 8os, the period also saw the emergence and proliferation of true-to-life movies. Producers then banked on the colorful and controversial
lives of known notorious criminals to come up with profitable movie projects, i.e. Nardong Putik, Kapitan Eddie Set, Baby Ama, Ronquillo, Salonga, and Waway, to name a few. Popular actors Ramon Revilla and Rudy Fernandez topped the list
of action stars who appeared in one movie after another, portraying infamous and villainous characters. Other stars followed, such as Ace Vergel, Jess Lapid, Jr., Rhene Imperial and Anthony Alonzo.
Alonzo was one of the busiest actors during that time and made a long list of true-to-life movies based on factual events and police records. Stardom came late for Alonzo. He was already 30 when he was given an important role in Hindi
sa Iyo ang Mundo Baby Porcuna in 1978, for which he was nominated for the URIAN Best Supporting Actor award. He was nominated in the FAMAS the following year for Dakpin si Junior Bombay (1979). In 1972, he won the FAMAS Best Actor award for his role in Bambang. He also won the Best Actor awards in the 3 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) for his work in: Bago Kumalat Ang Kamandag (1983), The Moises Padilla Story: The Missing Chapter (1985) and Anak Badjao (1987).
He died of skin cancer on October 9, 1998.
Solenn wants to do more

Anthony Alonzo Playing Real Life Characters for Reel
Already one of the industry’s more popular multi-hyphenated stars (an actress, singer, song- writer, TV host, VJ, fashion designer and painter), Solenn Heussaff still wants to do more. On top of her list is writing a Tagalog song and posting it on YouTube.
“Kahit anong kanta okay lang... feeling ko naman hindi masyadong halata (’yung accent) ‘pag kumakanta ng Tagalog,” she said. Solenn is still not happy with her Tagalog and continues to study the language.
“Akala ko kasi ’pag nag-stay ako dito nang matagal eh magig- ing fluent ako. Pero hindi pala. Pero paunti-unti natututo ako,” she said.
She also said she now under- stands Tagalog films better. “Pero minsan may mga words akong hindi maintindihan,” she said.
The French-Filipina beauty didn’t mince words when asked to comment on her brother Er- wan’s supposed impending mar- riage to girlfriend Anne Curtis.
According to Solenn, his brother isn’t ready yet being only 27 years old. “Para sa akin 35 pa ang age na alam mong mature na
ang lalaki,” she said.
Solenn stressed, however, that
it doesn’t mean she disapproves of Anne, whom she considers one of her closest friends. But, she’d rather that both focus on their respective careers at the moment.
So- lenn,
for her
part,
main-
tained
that
mar-
riage
is not
among her priorities.
“Ayoko ngayon. Pero siguro af- ter ko mag 30, pwede na rin,” she said. “Wedding can wait. When it happens, it happens.”
Nonetheless, she said that if her boyfriend of almost four years, Argentinian businessman Nico Bolzico, suddenly pops the question, she wouldn’t know what to do, surmising that she’ll probably shed tears of joy.
“At ’pag nangyari ’yun, secret lang namin,” she laughed.
