Iya Villania is now an exclusive artist of GMA Network
Check two warring networks off Drew Arellano and Iya Villania’s concerns.
The newlyweds are now in the same network, GMA-7, following Iya’s move from ABS-CBN to the Kapuso network.
The major career move comes months after Iya wed her boyfriend of 9 years in a private ceremony last January 31.
“It is going to be a huge change but I guess change is the only permanent thing in this world and it’s always nice to ruffle up the feathers kaya nakaka-excite. And of course it’s always nice to make new friends kaya that is what I’m definitely looking forward to,” Iya said.
This new chapter in her life is a homecoming of sorts for the 28-year-old
TV personality who began her career with GMA via defunct youth-oriented show “Click.”
Lilybeth Rasonable, GMA Senior
Vice President for Entertainment TV welcomed the original Kapuso and vowed to give Iya “good projects” where her talents would fit and “shine brighter.”
Kapag may nagbabalik, it’s always exciting. It’s
a homecoming for her and we welcome her with open arms. We’ll welcome her ng maganda sa SAS (Sunday All Stars) dahil masaya kaming lahat at itutuluy- tuloy natin ‘yun. We’re cooking up a drama for her. Although you don’t see her that much in drama, but we know she’s
a good actress. Even on stage, I watched her and she should continue to hone that. Magaling siyang host, sa SAS. She’ll be doing that and there are other projects we can give her for hosting.”
“Yes. Sobrang warm talaga ang
welcome sa akin it really does feel like
a homecoming, kasi ‘yun nga ‘yung tinatawag nga nila sa pagkalipat ko dito. It’s like a homecoming kasi nga it’s been 10 years,” ani Iya.
Kaya mga familiar faces, that’s why I don’t feel like such a stranger even though it has been 10 years,” aniya.
Okay lang and malay natin eh I’ll be able to sing more you know,” sabi ng balik Kapuso.
Moving channels can often be beneficial to the careers of actors. Depending on their current situation, a change in working environment is often healthy for their careers.
Their situation is no different from those working in the corporate world where piracy is often a case of one- upmanship. Piracy also leads to promotion and greener pasture.
In this case, actors, like ordinary office workers, get a chance to better their lives with each passing move, hopefully.

Where the grass is greener
MANILA – Can’t blame actors for shift- ing gears, transferring networks when their time with their home network is over. They’re merely exercising their right to level up their careers while increasing their paycheck.
A recent returnee from ABS-CBN to GMA is Iya Villania. Diether Ocampo and Nikki Gil are rumored to be making the same move.
These actors are following in the footsteps of Claudine Barretto and Rafael Rosell, who moved to GMA much earlier. Between the two, Rafael is having more
success.
Meanwhile, Jolina Magdangal has
moved back to ABS-CBN from GMA, where she was under contract for several years. Her return came complete with partner Marvin Agustin, with whom she’s reunited in new light romantic series, Flor de Liza.
Some of the actors who successfully shifted from 7 to 2 in the recent past include Jake Cuenca, Paulo Avelino, Cristine Reyes and Angel Locsin. Another recent transferee is Maxene Magalona, formerly also of GMA.
