Remarkably joined in by more than 200 guests, friends and family members, the officers and members of Camarines Norte Association Canada-Ontario (CNAC-O) celebrated successfully their foundation anniversary with a masquer- ade-themed gala on October 18, 2014 at Rembrandt Banquet Halls in Scarbor- ough, Ontario. The meaningful fundrais- ing occasion is in support of the organi- zation’s scholarship project and outreach assistance initiative in Camarines Norte, Philippines.
One of the event’s highlights was the formal induction of the 2014-2016 term executive officers and directors of the Tagalog-Bikol mix speaking organiza- tion. Led by Susan SJ. Llanera, as presi- dent, the other officers sworn in by the official representative of the Philippine Consul General-Toronto, (are) were : Merle Canlas,1st vice-president & acting secretary, Pong Ostonal, 2nd vice-presi- dent, Nely Lopriego, treasurer, Jocelyn San Juan, auditor, Carlito Cruz, public relations officer and Directors Elizabeth SJ. Cruz, Sonia SJ. Dela Cruz, Diego Ka- law Linan, Eva SJ. San Andres, Andrea A.San Juan, Marie A.San Juan, Virgie G.San Juan, Minda Sayoc, Rey Senis and Faye Silvio,

Ably hosted by community broadcast pioneer Kuya Roman Carretas and co- emcee Karen Pascual-Binaday. the enjoy- able program kicked off with the Cana- dian and Philippine national anthems’ renditions by Scott Dion Brown and Cheryll Samson, followed with soul-stir- ring invocation and grace-before-meals by director Elizabeth SJ. Cruz , CNAC- O president Susan Llanera’s welcome- cum- inaugural address, and the superb song-and-dance performances by Nicole Samantha Huff and Martha Joy.
CNAC-O , moreover, proudly hon- oured 10 notable leaders and personalities
for their exemplary contributions and ser- vices to the Filipino Canadian community. Among those presented with certificates of recognition were : philanthropist Dr. Victo- ria Santiago, PIDC president Norma Carpio, FCT president Rosalinda Javier, business leader Rafael Nebres, community advocate Alberto Rodil, financial service guru Agnes Miranda, singing diva Martha Joy, TV actor & singer Nicole Samantha Huff, songwriter & singer Scott Dion Brown, singer-entrepre- neur Chyrell Samson, and party hostess Ma- ria Geroche.
Tony A. San Juan , CNAC-O co-founder and adviser, endorsed and introduced five Filipino Canadians who are running for City of Toronto elective positions, namely: Randy Bucao( Councillor-York Centre) and TCDSB trustee-candidates Joey Abrenilla( Ward5), Manuel Ching( Ward 9), Paulina
Corpuz( Ward 12), reelectionist Garry Tan- uan( Ward 8) and Scarborough Southwest Liberal MP Nomination Candidate Mi- chelle Serrano. The fundraiser -silent auction was productively organized and managed by officer-sisters Marie San Juan, Sylvia Leaver and financial advisor Ted Celis. Andrea San Juan handled the exquisite hall decorations.
Collectively working on a precision-like performance , all the Association officers and members together with their spouses, part- ners and family members were noted and praised for their purposeful coordination and co-operation in achieving a delightful and memorable evening which was truly a mile- stone celebration.( T.
