ALEX GONZAGA:
Romance can
Wait
ALEX Gonzaga likes a guy who’s already taken, so her heart is closed to suitors now.
Actress-TV host Alex Gonzaga feels she became more mature and responsible during her 49-day stay inside the “Big Brother” House.
“I worked with mostly younger people. I benefited a lot from assuming the role of leader. And now that I’m out ... I’m able to apply what I’ve learned,” she told reporters during the launch of ABS-CBN’s afternoon series “Pure Love.”
Directed by Veronica Velasco and Mikey del Rosario, “Pure Love” is based on the Korean drama “49 Days.”
Alex, 26, clarified that she didn’t do a drama show to get away from the shadow of her older sister Toni: “I don’t mind being compared to my sister,” she pointed out. “She paved the way for me.”
Alex expressed confidence that “Pure Love” would do well in the ratings: “We’re banking on the story and our talented production team and cast.”
It has been a while since Alex’s last romantic relationship. “My previous relationships didn’t last because they weren’t pure. The most recent (with basketball star Chris Tiu’s cousin Jed) was so short-lived that I don’t even consider it a relationship.”
What is Alex’s definition of pure love? “When a person loves you without expecting anything in return. In the past, I thought what I had was pure love, but I was wrong. When I meet a new guy, kinikilatis ko muna. If I see that we’re not compatible, I don’t waste time anymore.”
Two partners
Alex is working closely with leading men Arjo Atayde and Joseph Marco in the series. She sees no romance blossoming with either of them. “As of now, my heart is closed,” she said.
Arjo, who is vocal about his feelings for Alex, said, “I’m willing to wait until it opens.”
Alex admitted having a crush on former PBB housemate Fourth Pagotan. “He has a girlfriend, though. I don’t want to adjust for him. If a relationship is meant to be, you don’t have to force it.”
“Pure Love” also features Yen Santos and Yam Concepcion.

The truth about Piolo
Over the years, Piolo Pascual’s star power has become a force to reckon with in the showbiz industry. But despite his unwavering and ever-growing popularity, the sensational actor has still managed to maintain an elusive and mysterious persona.
But in September, Piolo will finally share a “part of himself ” to the Filipino public and the rest of the world through a feature in E! News Asia Special.
Following 2014’s first special on Anne Cur- tis, Piolo is only the second Filipino celebrity to be featured on the show. The 37-year-old actor also shared how he is able to apply his
real-life role dad to his current onscreen char- acter, Gin, in ABS-CBN’s primetime series, Hawak Kamay.
Piolo joins other regional entertainment powerhouses like Lisa Surihani from Malay- sia, Jay Park from South Korea, and Aaron Aziz from Singapore as a subject of E! News Asia Special.
Marc Abaya defends Nora Aunor on National Artist issue
Kwan’s lead vocalist Marc Abaya did not mince words, as he expressed his disappoint- ment that Superstar Nora Aunor failed to get the National Artist title.
Last month, President Benigno Simeon Aquino III admitted in an interview that one of the reasons he did not pick the veteran actress was because of her alleged history of substance abuse.
“Na-convict po siya sa drugs... na-convict at naparusahan at ang tanong ngayon dito, kapag ginawa ba [siyang] National Artist may mensahe ba akong maliwanag na sinasabi sa sambayanan?,” the President said.
The Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real star was affected by the sad news and he strongly
believes that Nora deserves the recognition. “I was very much affected by what hap-
pened by the fact that he (PNoy) spoke out against her and the whole
country, not just me the
whole country, knows she
is a great actress. Nobody is perfect and that means nobody!”
He added, “This
woman has worked
forever. This woman is
not perfect, she might have her faults, but did she hurt anyone? I don’t think she did. Nobody is perfect, but you cannot take that away from her being [an] artist. More so that she never hurt a living soul. I’ve worked with her, I think she is the kindest woman I have ever worked with. She is a great actress, she’s generous, she is a good human being.”
In addition, the Marc wanted a group of artists to solely choose who will get the National Artist title.
“I believe that awards for artists must be decided upon by artists. Who are the artists that will decide is another thing. All I know is, only an artist could judge an artist. The president that’s different.”
